Petals and Paisleys

As I promised yesterday, I’m back with another paisley card.  This time, I’m using the Paisley Framelets and some beautiful DSP from the Petals and Paisleys Specialty DSP Pack.  Here’s my card:

Aren’t the paisleys cut with the dies gorgeous?  I adore the DSP underneath the die cuts too.  Mint Macaron and Soft Suede look so pretty together.

Here’s the scoop:
  • I used Soft Suede Cardstock as my base. I also used Mint Macaron and Whisper White cardstock.
  • My DSP came from the Naturals Designer Series Paper Stack, and the Petals and Paisley Specialty DSP Pack.
  • The sentiment is from a new set named Suite Seasons.  It’s on page 43 in the Holiday Catalog.
Do you need a Holiday Catalog?  Email me here  and I’ll be happy to send you one!

I highly recommend that you add the Petals and Paisleys Suite to your order on September 1st!

Paisleys and Posies for PPA 313

I’m so excited to share one of the holiday stamp sets with you today!  Paisley Posies is perfect as a Thanksgiving set, but it can work for just about anything else your little heart desires.  Today I’m going to pair Paisley Posies with the yummy colors from the Pals Paper Arts 313 color challenge.

Here’s what I came up with:

Here are the colors for the PPA Challenge:
PPA-313-Aug11
And here’s the scoop
  • I stamped the large paisley shapes first in Tip Top Taupe.  I colored parts of them with my Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach markers.
  • Next, I stamped the small flowers in Flirty Flamingo.
  • The Peekaboo Peach fancy circles were the last images I stamped.
  • The wonderful sentiment is also from this Paisleys and Posies Stamp Set.  I embossed the sentiment in Tip Top Taupe.
  • My bling for this card is three Flirty Flamingo Enamel Shapes.
This fun stamp set also has framelets to match.  I’ll be using them in my card for tomorrow.

Touches of Texture for PPA

Hi!  Today I get to use my favorite stamp set to make my card for the PPA 312 challenge.  Can you guess what it is?  Take a guess before scrolling down then see if you’re right.

Here’s my card for today:

And here’s the PPA Sketch:
ppa312
Linda Callahan designed this sketch and she rules when it comes to clean and simple cards.  You would think CAS cards are simple to make, but not always.  I made 3 cards before I was satisfied with the one above.
Details:

  • My favorite stamp set of the moment is………….Touches of Texture!  Did you guess correctly?  The pretty flower, the stamping on the circle and the little bee are all from this awesome set.
  • The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP pack.  I love the dots on this piece of DSP they make me smile.
  • I let the DSP choose my color scheme which is Flirty Flamingo, Crumb Cake and a few pops of Daffodil Delight.
  • My bling for this card is the little cute little Flirty Flamingo Enamel Shapes.  Their job was to draw attention to the sentiment.
I hope this sweet card made you smile.  If it did, the card did its job!

A Hummingbird Friend for PCCCS#205

I have a love affair with birds, especially hummingbirds.  I come by this naturally.  My mom and grandmother both loved watching birds come to their feeders.  I haven’t been successful in luring hummingbirds to my feeders, but I have seen them around my Butterfly Bush.

Today’s card uses the hummingbird from the Picture Perfect stamp set.  I used the sketch from the Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  Take a look:

Here’s the sketch that I followed for the challenge:
Welcome to the Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge 205 hosted by Pam Staples, SunnyGirlScraps. #papercraftcrew #sunnygirlscraps #challengeblog #papercrafts Play along at www.papercraftcrew.com #papercraftcrew #sketch
It’s a detailed sketch and it was fun choosing all the elements for my pretty card.

  • The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the Serene Scenery DSP Stack.  The papers are so pretty in this set.  The leaf pattern was perfect for today’s card.
  • The hummingbird is stamped using Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz inks.
  • The So Saffron stamping on the white panel is done with a stamp from Touches of Nature.
  • The yellow Baker’s Twine is leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit.
  • The dots next to the butterfly are from the Subtles Enamel Shapes.
  • The sentiment along with the hummingbird is from the Picture Perfect Stamp Set.
If you have pictures of hummingbirds from your yard, I’d love to see them!  Post your pictures in the comments below.

Going Nautical with GDP#047

Global Design Project has a nautical theme going on and I thought I’d sail right in after making a quick card.  Wrong!  This card took me two hours.  That’s right, two hours!  Wait until you see my card and you’ll wonder why.  Here it is:

I started out with a certain sketch and color scheme in my head.  I was using a navy and white striped background with a banner in red, along with the ship’s wheel.  No matter how I tried it was awful!  That’s when I decided to walk away for awhile.

Taking a break did the trick.  I pulled out the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and chose a piece that resembled water and sky.  (There’s actually paper in the stack that looks like that, but I’d already used it up.)

Next, I took the ship’s wheel and the lighthouse and stamped and embossed them.  I also stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set, and punched  it out with an oval punch. The oval looked a bit plain so I added pearls.

Finally, I made a ship’s knot out of Very Vanilla Thick Baker’s Twine and added it to the top.  Tah-dah!  A card I was finally happy with!

How many of you have times like I had today?  Tell me your story in the comments below.

Sunshine Sayings for CYCI#131

Today’s CAS (Clean and Simple) card is for this week’s Can You Case It Challenge.  This week’s challenge is a color one.   When I first looked at the colors, I must admit I was stumped.  After playing around a bit I came up with this:

Here is the CYCI#131 banner:
CYCI#131 Color Challenge

  • The colors I used were Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, and Basic Black.
  • The flowers are from the stamp set Sunshine Sayings.
  • The sentiment is from the Here For You Stamp Set.  I love the saying in this set.  There are very down to earth.  Each verse has an innie and an outie in the same font!
  • The flower centers are punched with a regular old standard issue paper punch.
Let me know if you like this CAS.  I’m not used to making a card this basic.
