Happy Anniversary

Today is Steve and my 32nd anniversary today.  While we don’t look anything like the picture below, the same love is in our eyes today.  I’m glad I’m on this life’s journey with this patient and caring man.

Here’s the card I made Steve for our anniversary:
Here’s the scoop:

  • The train is from the Traveler stamp set.
  • The only color you see on the card is the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler.
  • The map is stamped with a retired background stamp (World Map).
  • The rest of the DSP is from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack.
We’re both busy working tomorrow, but Friday we’re going to the beach to celebrate our big day.

The Bold and the Beautiful for Paper Players 308

If you need a pick-me-up, today’s card is for you!  That’s because I used the color combo over at The Paper Players for my inspiration today.  I pulled a fun stamp set off of my shelf to go with it.

Take a look:

See?  I told you it was cheery!  Here’s why:
These colors scream “birthday” to me so that’s where I went.

Here’s the low down:

  • I love the balloons from the Celebrate Today stamp set!  I’m so glad this set didn’t retire!  It’s perfect for a color combo like this one.
  • I used the newer set, Confetti Celebration for my sentiment and the little balloon beside it.  I thought the bold sentiment went well with the beautiful balloons.
  • I finished my card by tying my balloon bouquet together with some black and white Baker’s Twine.

Tah-Dah!  Now I have a knockout card to celebrate a special friend’s birthday.

Christmas Bells for PCCC206

I’ve been a busy girl today!  This is my second post for the day.  This post is my entry for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  The challenge is to break open some packs of pretty Designer Series Paper and use them on a card.

Take a look at how mine turned out:

Welcome to the Paper Craft Crew Designer Series Paper Theme Challenge 206 hosted by Pam Staples, SunnyGirlScraps. #papercraftcrew #sunnygirlscraps #challengeblog #papercrafts #themechallenge Play along at www.papercraftcrew.com
Here’s the low down on my card:

  • The bell is stamped using the new Shake and Celebrate stamp set.  The bow is cut using the Shaker Shapes Framelets.  I look forward to sharing more great cards from this set with you!
  • The Designer Series Paper is also new.  It’s called Presents and Pine Cones and is just gorgeous on both sides!
  • I love the way my bell is framed by the cute bow DSP!  The other two pieces of DSP match the colors of the bows.
  • Where’s the sentiment?  I didn’t want to cover any of that gorgeous paper so I’ll put my greeting on the inside of the card.

After a fun day of stamping with my friend Nancy, I head to Philadelphia tomorrow morning for more speech and voice therapy.  Then it’s into school to start setting up my classroom for the new school year.  Time to get back in the groove!

Color Challenge for GDP40 and sketch challenge for Mojo Monday

I received inspiration today from two different places.  The great colors came from the Global Design Challenge and the sketch came from Mojo Monday.

Here’s my card:

Here’s the banner for the GDP Challenge:
And here’s the banner for the Mojo Monday Challenge:
The color combo is so fresh and pretty!  I don’t know why I didn’t think of this combo on my own, but I’m glad someone did!  I love the doily embossed in Flirty Flamingo.  It certainly makes a statement!
As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I had to go back and use one of my favorite retired stamps.  I just love the crispness of the doily and the scalloped edges match the sketch.  The rectangle in the middle is perfect for my sentiment which uses the other two challenge colors.
Hope your Tuesday has been terrific!

Sympathy Card for CYCI#133

It’s always sad when you need to send a sympathy card.  No one likes those occasions.  However, I love making sympathy cards.  I like taking extra time to make each one meaningful.  Today’s card is inspired by the Can You Case It team and their color choices for this week’s challenge.

I very pleased with the way this turned out.  Take a peek:

Here is the inspiration from CYCI#133:
CYCI#133
I made the photo of my card bigger than normal so you can see all the details.  Here’s the scoop:
  • The background stamp is from Our Daily Bread.  It’s called Amazing Grace Hymn.  I love to use this stamp when someone needs reminding that grace is the guarantee that we will see loved ones in Heaven.
  • All my other supplies are from Stampin’ Up!
  • The colors I chose to use are Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron and Soft Suede.
  • The flower and lacy stamp are from the Grateful Bunch Stamp Set.
  • The die cut leaf is from Rose Garden Thinlets Dies.
  • The pearls are colored with a retired Blendability marker.
I am grateful for grace in my life.

Touches of Nature for FabFri93

Today I decided to play along with the folks over at Fab Friday.  They have a pretty sketch up for their challenge.  Take a look at my card:

And now take a look at the sketch:

Isn’t my card pretty?  Here’s how it came together:

  • Instead of the flourish that the sketch suggests, I went for a spray of flowers from Touches of Nature.
  • My color scheme was taken from the pretty DSP (Designer Series Paper).  It’s from the Blooms and Bliss Paper Pack.  I pulled Mint Macaron and Island Indigo to use for my colors.
  • I used Mint Macaron to add “splotches” from Touches of Nature to make my background “spray”.
  • I embossed my flower spray in black and then used a blender pen to add color to the flowers.
  • I embossed my sentiment from Happy Happenings in white on an Island Indigo piece of cardstock.
  • I added a piece of Mint Macaron Lace Trim (retired) to the back of the sentiment strip.
Tah Dah!  A super easy card done in about 10 minutes!
