Sending Comfort for Kylie’s International Blog Highlight and FMS251

Hello!

Today I am participating in a blog highlight put together by Kylie Bertucci.  Kylie is an energetic stamper from Austrailia.  She presents this amazing opportunity for stampers all over the world to share their work with others.  I hope that you go over to the gallery and enjoy all the wonderful work there.  They are all great projects.  Here’s the link to visit: http://www.craftykylie.com/2016/08/international-blog-highlights-vote-for.html

The theme for this month is Random Acts of Kindness and Encouragement.  The inspiration for this card came from the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge 251.  Here’s my card:

Here’s the FMS251 Banner that inspired my card:

My card uses four products from the new Holiday Catalog.

  • Petals and Paisleys Specialty Designer Paper-All of the paper for this card is from this pack.  Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy for us to pick coordinating papers!
  • Pretty Paisleys Textured Embossing Folder- This pretty oval folder is such an elegant touch on any card.  I chose to fussy cut my oval for a little extra detail.
  • Basket of Wishes Stamp Set- The beautiful basket and gourds are fun to color.  I colored mine with a Blender Pen.  There are 3 baskets and 4 images to fill them in this set.
  • Suite Seasons Stamp Set – There are nice sized sentiments in this set for all the upcoming holidays.  The sentiment I chose can be used all year round!
I hope you enjoyed my gallery card!  Kylie is having a contest to make it more fun!  You can vote for your favorites by clicking this link : http://www.craftykylie.com/2016/08/international-blog-highlights-vote-for.html

If you liked my card, please stop over and vote for me!  If I am one of the winners,  I get to be a guest designer on another one of her international events!

Thanks for stopping by!

Displaying Fall Forward - August 2016.png
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop!  Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have been actively ordering from the 2016 Holiday Catalog – before it opens to customers on September 1st. We are excited to share some of our new goodies with you today!  Today’s Blog Hop is filled with inspiring projects that feature each artist’s take on the Fall months – Halloween and Thanksgiving are just around the corner.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My project today is all about paisleys.  They are very trendy right now and Stampin’ Up! has a beautiful Petals and Paisleys suite in the Holiday Catalog.  I am showing you a couple of products from this fabulous suite in my card today.

Here’s my card:

Aren’t those paisleys lovely?!  The stamp sets I used today are the Paisleys and Posies and Suite Seasons.  The paper is from the Petals and Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack.  I love the two patterns I used in Rich Razzleberry!

My card has a Triple Panel Standing Card Fold.  (Say that quickly 3 times!)
Here’s the scoop:
  • The card base is 8in. x 5 in. and is scored at 2, 3 5 and 6 inches.  Fold the scores starting from the left as valley, mountain, mountain, valley.
  • The Very Vanilla panel pieces are 1 7/8in. x 5 3/8 in.  You need 3.
  • The DSP panel pieces are 1 3/4in. x 5 1/4.  You need the outside panels to have the same paper with the one in the middle being different.
  • The square cardstock panel measures 4 1/8in. x 4 1/8in.
  • The square Very Vanilla panel measure 4 in. x 4 in.
Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Candy Ford at Stamp Candy. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

It’s a Razzleberry Kind of Day

Hello!  I love purple in any shade so I was thrilled to see DSP in the Holiday Catalog that features
Rich Razzleberry!  The Petals and Paisley Specialty Designer Paper Pack has 4 sheets in it that have this yummy color.

Here’s my card that uses this fun color:

I’ve had a busy day today so this card is Clean and Simple.  The berry basket and berries are stamped on Shimmery White cardstock using Basic Black Ink.  I watercolored the basket Mint Macaron.  I didn’t want to color the berries red because I thought it would clash with the Rich Razzleberry.  I compromised and colored them in Rose Red which looks fine. I die cut the basket using one of the Layering Circles Framelets.

Take a look at the ribbon at the top.  It’s one of a pack of three that come in the suite!  It works perfectly with a Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine bow.

If you’re a purple lover like me, give this paper pack a try!  You can order it in my online store:rmyren.stampinup.net

Happy stampin’,
Robin

FMS250 for Dad’s Birthday

My dad’s birthday is September 1st and I need to get his card popped into the mail.  I decided to use Freshly Made Sketch 250 as my inspiration today.

Here’s my card:

Here’s the challenge from FMS250:
I think I’ve told you before that my dad has had a love affair with horses all of his life.  He’s raised Quarter Horses and mules.  He rode every chance he got until he was trail riding and the horse stumbled on a slick rock.  The horse was fine but Dad broke 7 ribs and was in the ICU for a week.  He still rode for awhile, but finally gave it up at age 80 a couple of years ago.  He’s also a simple man so my I wanted to make him a Western-type card with little to no fussy stuff.

Here’s what I decided upon:

  • I used Delightful Dijon as my base.
  • I pulled a beautiful piece of DSP from the Serene Scenery DSP Stack.  It reminded me of pasture ground on the farm where I grew up.
  • The stamp set I used is called Horse Frontier and is retired.  I usually refrain from retired product, but I’ve kept this one because it works for “Dad” cards so well.
  • I stamped the horse on Very Vanilla and embossed it in Soft Suede.  I do this by inking the stamp with VersaMark first and then right into the Soft Suede ink.  It does not hurt your ink pad at all!  I learned this from Sam Hammond.  One of my top 10 best tricks EVER!
  • After embossing the horse I used colored pencils to shade in the image.
  • I mounted the image on a Delightful Dijon oval with Dimensionals.
I think I have a winner as far as my dad is concerned.  I hope you like it too!  If so, please sign up to get my blog delivered right to your email so you can see more of my projects.

Happy stampin’,
Robin

Share and Celebrate with a Birthday Card

I’ve been trying to finish this post for a few days now.  Between getting my room ready for the start of a new school year and being out of town to celebrate our anniversary, time kept slipping away.  Anyway, here it is.  I hope you think it was worth waiting for!

My card  uses Shake and Celebrate, a new set from the Holiday Catalog along with its coordinating Shaker Shapes Framelets.  This is a great set.  The framelets and stamps make a Christmas bell, Christmas tree, and this cute cake.  You can order this set on September 1st.

Isn’t it a beauty?  I can’t wait to mail it to someone soon.

Here’s the scoop:
  • I used the embossing folder Confetti to emboss the pretty background.
  • I used Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum to sponge the color onto the embossing.
  • The cake was die cut using the framelets.  I also cut out the cake stand and tiny flowers.
  • For the shaker, I dyed some silica beads with my Flirty Flamingo reinker along with a bit of alcohol.
  • I stamped the sentiment and adhered it over the middle window.
  • The panel is adhered to a cute polka dottted piece of DSP from the Affectionately Your Specialty DSP Paper Pack.
Let me know what you think in the comment space below.  If you like what you see, sign up to get my blog delivered to your email!

Happy stampin’,
Robin
