New In-Colors for GDP

I was just sitting down at my work table to create my card for the Global Design Project Challenge when the most wonderful sound reached my ears.  It was my awesome UPS man delivering my new goodies from Stampin’ Up!  I ran down the stairs tripping over the dog in the process, snagged my beloved box and hightailed it back to my studio to tear into it!

My card idea remained the same but the color palette changed into three of the new yummy In-Colors!  Here’s my card:

And here’s the GDP banner
Aren’t those colors luscious?  It’s like looking at Rainbow Sherbet!  The three colors I used were Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, and Sweet Sugarplum.

Here’s how the card came together:

  • I started with a piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 5 1/4 by 4.  I cut another piece of white cardstock slightly bigger and cut an oval out of the center using an Oval Framelet.  I put the die cut oval in my scrap pile and kept the rest for a mask.
  • I arranged the mask over the smaller piece of cardstock making sure the oval was centered.  I then taped the pieces to my desk.
  • I started sponging Peekaboo Peach through the middle of the oval with a dauber.  I repeated the process with Flirty Flamingo.  I then sponged Sweet Sugarplum on both ends of the oval.  I blended as I went.
  • I removed the mask and sponged the stars using an acetate mask that I cut with punches and die cuts. To sponge, I used a dauber and White Craft Ink.
  • After the piece dried, I stamped the sentiment from the retiring Bravo stamp set in VersaMark.  I then embossed it with white embossing powder. For some bling, I added a few gold stars.
  • To finish my card I mounted it on a 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 piece of Flirty Flamingo Cardstock.  I then mounted that piece on my Peekaboo Peach card base.
I hope you have a chance to try these new colors yourself when the catalog goes live on June 1st, but until then try this sketch with color choices of your own.
Happy stamping,
Robin

Lighthearted Leaves for CYCI

My card today is for the CYCI Sketch Challenge.  I had fun with this sketch and I hope you like my card.  Here it is:

And here is the CYCI banner
CYCI#118

Using an Aquabrush, I laid down a watercolor wash in Daffodil Delight.  The stamped leaves are from the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set.  I chose the leaves because they were similar in design and but differed in size.  They match the hexagon shapes in the sketch.  I stamped them in Cucumber Crush and embossed them with clear embossing powder.

The sentiment is from the Me=Grateful stamp set.  I stamped it in Early Espresso and embossed it with clear embossing powder as well.

For the strip in the sketch, I used jute that I wrapped around the card several times and then knotted.  My final touch was Cucumber Crush Blossom Accent.  I then mounted my piece on a Cucumber Crush base with Dimensionals.

Ta-Dah!  All finished!  Tell me what you think in the comments below!

Happy stamping!

Tic Tac Toe for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

I made today’s card for the Stamp, Ink Paper Challenge.  This week’s challenge is a Tic Tac Toe one. I actually got 2 Tic Tac Toes with my card.  Here it is:

Here is their banner so you can see what guided me with my card decisions:
SIP Tic Tac Toe 46 800
My card complies with a diagonal win and a horizontal win!

I chose Melon Mambo for my pink color.  I love the way it stands up to a lot of black on my card.

The stamp set I used is Amazing Birthday.  This bold set is retiring so snag yours before the end of the month! I stamped my image on the cardstock in all black first.  I stamped it again on another piece of cardstock in Melon Mambo.  I then simply cut the pink parts of the stamped pink image out and glued them on top of the black parts I wanted to replace.

I added the pink twine but kept the rest of my card front alone to balance the busy and bold stamp.
I popped my card front on my designer series paper with Dimensionals and was good to go

If you have this set, pull it out and give it some love.  Post your cards in the comments below.  I’d love to see your version of Tic Tac Toe!

Happy stamping!

Choose Happiness for PCCCS#192

Today I’m saying goodbye to another stamp set.  I am stamping Choose Happiness for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  I am sad to be saying goodbye, but I know wonderful stamp sets are waiting in the new Annual Catalog!

Here’s my card for this sketch challenge:

And here is the banner that inspired me this week:
Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 192
I used Lost Lagoon as my card base.  Instead of the horizontal banner, I used a stamp from Timeless Textures which I stamped in Lost Lagoon.

I stamped the leaf from Choose Happiness in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White cardstock.  I then die cut it with a framelet from Lots of Labels Framelets.

I embossed the flower from the stamp set and watercolored it with  Daffodil Delight.   I cut it out and popped it on top of the die cut with Dimensionals.  I stamped the bird from the set in Blackberry Bliss and cut it out as well.  It then was popped up next to the flower.

I embossed my sentiment from And Many More in white on Rose Red cardstock.  I then cut it with a Bitty Banner Framelet.

I added some splotches with a stamp from Timeless Textures and then finished my card with rhinestones in varying sizes.

Many of the items on this card are retiring!  Don’t forget to order them before time runs out!

Happy stamping!

Travelling with PPA298

I’m back today with another challenge card.  This time, it’s for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge.

Here is my card:

And here’s the banner that inspired it.
PPA-298-Apr28
I knew that the next few days are going to be super busy so I wanted something extremely simple.  I found it in the Project Life “Let’s Get Away Card Collection and Accessory Kit.  I just pulled two cards from the kit, trimmed them a bit so they would fit better, and adhered them to my Bermuda Bay Base.

Next, I took my Project Life “Let’s Get Away” stamp set and stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay and the cute little car in Melon Mambo.

To finish up my card I took 3 dots from the Accessory Kit and added them to the sentiment card for a little bling.  I then wrapped some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine around the top and tied a bow.

My card is as cute as can be and was completed in ten minutes!

I’m using the rest of my Project Life items to complete a memory book about our family’s trip to Maine last summer.  I’m looking forward to reliving those fun memories!  If you like these Project Life items, you better order them quickly.  They are on the Retired List.

Happy stamping!
Robin
