Birthday Blooms For My Sister’s Birthday

My younger sister has a birthday today.  Mine happens to be Friday.  I never thought it was fair that she was younger but got to open her presents first.  Lucky for her I got over it and made this beautiful card to go along with her gift.  Take a look at my birthday card for Melissa:

Does the color combo look familiar?  It’s from this week’s PPA challenge.  I missed the deadline again!  Oh well, the color combo is gorgeous!

My flower and sentiment are stamped on Vellum Cardstock.  I then flipped the paper over and took the small end of my stylus to emboss the flower.  That’s why it looks white.  Cool, huh?

I mounted it on Mint Macaron Cardstock using a gazillion glue dots on the flower where they won’t show.  I backed it with Night of Navy Cardstock and added it to my card base.  The card base is Sahara Sand Cardstock with a piece of Sahara Sand DSP from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.

Hope you like it!  If you want more ideas, my newsletter comes out on Wednesdays.  You can sign up below.

Happy stampin’,
Robin

Rose Garden Wedding Wishes

I was asked by a friend to make a wedding card so I pulled out my Rose Wonder Stamp Set and got busy.  I love this stamp set for wedding and sympathy cards.  Its images and sentiments are so elegant.  Here’s a picture of the card I made:

I stamped my rose on vellum with Stazon Black.  I then colored the rose on the back side of the vellum using Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers.  The leaf is colored using Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz Markers.

I used Sweet Sugarplum as my base and topped it with a panel of Whisper White.  I stamped it with the greeting from Rose Wonder and then embossed it with the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder,

I adhered the rose and leaf to the white panel after cutting it out.  To adhere, I used a very thin coating of Crystal Effects that I applied with my finger.  The glue doesn’t show at all!

To finish my card, I added three rhinestones for some bling.

I really like the way it turned out.  I hope my friend does too!

Happy stampin’,
Robin

A Happy Hello for GDP#038 and TGIF#58

The weather has been a bit dreary here so I turned to the TGIF Challenge for bright colors.  The GDP sketch this week put those beautiful colors to perfect use.

Here’s my card:

Here’s the banner for the TGIF#58 Challenge:

And here’s the banner for the GDP#38 Challenge:
To make my card, I started with the rectangular panel and worked backward.  On a clear block, I colored over it with a Daffodil Delight Marker.  I barely spritzed it with water and stamped it on a Shimmery White sheet of cardstock and then swiped the block the rest of the way across the piece of paper.  I repeated the technique with Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie.  I made sure each color overlapped just a bit.

After the cardstock dried, I painted a thin coat of Gesso a bit larger than my stamped image and let that dry.  I pressed my sentiment stamp from the Tin of Cards Stamp Set in VersaMark and then in Melon Mambo and stamped my card.  To finish it, I embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I mounted the strip on Melon Mambo Cardstock and set it aside.

Next, I used the medium sized die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlets Dies and cut out Melon Mambo paper three times.  I glued them on Whisper White cardstock on the left side of the paper.

I glued the finished panel on the right side of the Whisper White Cardstock, overlapping the dies cuts a bit.  I mounted the whole thing on a piece of Melon Mambo card base and called it done!

The bright colors made me smile!  I hope it made you smile too!

Happy stampin’,
Robin

Balloon Beauty for FMS239

Today’s card is for the Freshly Made Sketch challenge.  I decided right away that I wanted my focal point to be a balloon grouping.  I think I’ve said it before, but I love balloons.  They make me smile and feel like a kid again. I need that with the day I have planned.  Busy, busy, busy!

Here’s my card:

And here is the FMS239 Sketch:
The base of my card is Pool Party.  On top of my base, I have a piece of Whisper White. The Whisper White layer is stamped with the large cloud from the stamp set Balloon Celebration.  I used Pool Party Ink.

The rectangular piece is watercolored in Cucumber Crush and Pool Party.  I stamped the small cloud from the same set in Pool Party on top of the watercolor.

The balloons are the small ones from Balloon Celebration and are stamped in Flirty Flamingo.  The balloons’ strings are linen thread.  I “tied” them together with some Whisper White Twine leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit.

The sentiment is from the Endless Thanks Stamp Set.  I stamped it in Basic Gray.

My final touch was to add a few small rhinestones for some bling.

Hope you liked my card today!  If so, leave me a comment.  I love to hear feedback!

Happy stampin’,
Robin

Flamingo hello for CYCI122

The UPS man was so nice to deliver my new Pop of Paradise Stamp Set and Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Paper (DSP) yesterday.  I broke both open to play along with the Can You Case It Challenge for this week.

Here’s a look at my card:

Here’s the challenge banner from CYCI122:
Sketch2015-001
The bold paper patterns and colors work well with this simple sketch.  You don’t want too much of a good thing!  I chose a black and white piece of DSP that actually made me a bit dizzy when I looked at it.  My hubby said I’m already dizzy and the paper was fine. LOL
I stamped my flamingo in Melon Mambo.  The leaf and Hello sentiment were stamped in a new In-Color, Emerald Envy.  I REALLY love this green.  It makes me smile every time I stamp it.
To finish up my card I added black heart sequins for some bling.
Happy stampin’,
Robin
